The Inspiration Behind My Bright & Bold Art

Welcome to the first blog post on my website! Today, I wanted to share the inspiration behind my work and the influences that have shaped my artistic vision so you can get to know more about me and my process.

The Birth of a Vision

My artistic journey began at a very young age. My parents are world travelers and always brought me along for the adventures which helped to shape my view of the world around me through being exposed to art and culture. Growing up, I was captivated by the intricate patterns and bold hues of traditional art forms and I would bring my sketchbook along everywhere I went trying to illustrate and capture everything I was seeing. We didn't have phones to log our memories of these trips so sketching was my way of recording my experiences while traveling. This early exposure sparked a desire to create art that was both visually stimulating and spiritually meaningful. Every museum, church, or world heritage site mystified me and amplified my creative vision which continues to fuel my creativity as an adult.

Inspiration from the Desert

The desert landscape has been a profound influence on my work as well. Its striking contrasts, from the deep blues of the mid-day sky that fades to into the fiery oranges of the setting sun, have inspired a palette that is bold and harmonious. The desert's beauty lies in its ability to transform and surprise and these are qualities I strive to capture in my art. Each piece reflects the desert's vibrant spirit, bringing its energy and tranquility to those who view it even in my work that is not desert themed.

Spiritual Influences

My art is deeply intertwined with spiritual themes, drawing inspiration from tarot, sacred symbols, and mystical practices. The symbolism and mysteries of tarot has always been a major influence in my life since discovering my first deck as a teenager. I find beauty in the way these cards convey deep spiritual messages through vivid imagery and symbolism. Incorporating these elements into my work allows me to create pieces that not only catch the eye but also resonate on a deeper level.

Bold Artistry and Color

One of the defining features of my art are most certainly my use of bright and bold colors. I believe that art should be a celebration of the mystery of life and color is a powerful tool for expressing joy, passion, and energy. My approach involves layering vibrant hues and dynamic patterns to create a sense of movement and depth. This technique not only enhances the visual impact of each piece but also invites viewers to experience the artwork in a personal way.

The Creative Process

Each piece starts with a vision—whether it’s a feeling, a dream, a color scheme, or a spiritual concept. I begin with sketching and experimenting with different compositions, always keeping in mind the emotional and spiritual impact I want to achieve along with extensive research to make sure what I am conveying is correct and resonates. The process also involves a mix of traditional techniques and modern methods, allowing me to infuse each work with both precision and spontaneity. There is so much more to my process that I will be opening up more about in future posts!

Looking Ahead

As I continue to explore new themes and techniques, my goal remains the same: to create art that is both visually enchanting and spiritually nourishing. I am excited to continue to share new projects and collections with you in the future, each one inspired by the beauty of the world around me and the depths of the human spirit.

That being said, I want to thank you for being here and taking the time to learn a little bit more about me. I also invite you to explore the gallery and find a piece that resonates with you! Your support and connection are what truly bring my art to life. Stay tuned for more updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses into my creative process as time goes on. I hope to continue to connect with each and every one of you through my personal artistic language.
